What Makes These Coilovers "Extreme Low"
BC Racing Extreme Low coilovers use a shock and spring combination roughly 20mm shorter than a standard coilover setup, which translates to approximately 1 inch of additional drop over a standard kit on most applications. Since the damper itself is physically shorter, you get a lower ride height while still retaining usable suspension travel - instead of running a standard kit with the springs drooped low and the shock riding near fully compressed. Spring rates on Extreme Low kits may be stiffer than the standard equivalent depending on the platform, which can sharpen handling response but may also make bumps a bit harsher.
Converting BC Racing Coilovers to Air Suspension
BR Series coilovers on the BMW E21 3 Series (45mm) aren't locked into a coil spring setup for life. Because they feature fully-threaded shock bodies, these coilovers convert to a full air suspension setup by simply removing the coil springs and threading on a set of coilover conversion bags in their place. Spring Rate Upgrades
The standard springs on BC Racing coilovers work well for most builds, but if you're chasing a specific stance or feel, the BR Series can be upgraded to a custom spring rate at checkout:
- Custom Spring Rates for BC Racing Coilovers (4 Corner) - spec your own spring rates up to 20k, installed on your coilovers in place of the standard springs by BC Racing before shipping.
- Swift Springs Upgrade for Coilovers (4 Corner) - for spring rates above 20k, or for Swift's faster reacting spring material, installed in place of the standard springs.
